Daffodils beginning to grow at The Tropical Paradise

Growing plants from bulbs in The Tropical Paradise is a lot of fun. It's the second week of October here in Glendale and I am just starting to see some daffodils starting to push up. This is the time of year to plant bulbs here. During the winter they produce strong root systems and push up leaves, and in the spring they bloom. Daffodils (narcissus) look great along with palms and cycads. Here is what it looked like last year. They naturalize and multiply in the garden, so year after year more come back. While they are just starting out, keep them well watered and fertilized.

I have good luck with bulbs from many places, from fancy online sites, like Easytogrowbulbs.com to the local "Dollar Store". In fact, I buy bulbs anywhere I see them for sale, and put them in the ground. It is pure joy to see them begin to grow, and then to bloom.
