Planting a venus fly trap outdoors in Phoenix, Arizona

It's May 5th, and while I was at the garden center this morning getting more potting soil, I bought a tiny little venus flytrap plant, and have planted it in my garden in Glendale, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. I really have no idea how it will do, but I learn best by doing, so I'm giving it a shot. The area that it's in is the shadiest part of the garden, next to the house, getting only dappled morning sun, and then deep shade all afternoon. Still, even dappled morning sun in Phoenix can be brutal, so we'll see. I started by digging a big hole and putting in some of the potting soil that I got. It's the good kind, with moisture crystals and plant food, and I also added a sprinkling of plant food, too. It's a tiny plant, and I'd imagine it's going to be a while before it can catch flies to provide for itself, so I'm looking after it.
